Marriage problems can all be solved if we will make up our mind that we want to. We are going to ask you to go back to that glorious moment when he asked you to marry him and when you said, “Yes.” Do you remember how you felt when you asked her? Remember that tremendous beating in your heart? Remember that tremendous thumping? I say this to the man and to the woman I say, “ Remember how thrilled you were when you had the opportunity to say, “Yes.” Many times in our marriage we need to go back to the very beginning and remember how much in love we were at that time and then recapture that beautiful love.

Problems in marriage are caused by “self”. “I want my way” – “no, I want my way.” After 35-3/4 years of perfect marriage Charles and I have never had an argument nor have we ever had a fight. That is because I always want to please him and he always wants to please me. If you will die to self and remember that it is not important who wins an argument. Six months from now it won’t mean a thing whether the man or the woman won the argument so both of you say this prayer.

“Father, we put our marriage into Your hands. Thank You for reminding us to think about how we felt when not only we asked and responded to be married to the other person, but that when we stood at the altar we said, “Until death us do part.” Thank You for healing the wounds that have been put in our marriage by careless remarks and Father, remind us always to put the other one first in an argument because if one tries to win the argument for the other one, the argument can’t last very long, so thank You, Father, for healing our marriage in Jesus’ name.”
